Teammates and Coaches

Many times the impact that people we meet and associate with in our personal and business lives leave on us is not really well known until after he has passed on. Such is the impact that George Webster had on many of those individuals that he touched. In honoring George Webster with a scholarship in his name, Jim Nelson said this: ““I am very excited and feel honored to be the person to start this scholarship program in George’s name”, says Jim Nelson, an MSU graduate of 1960. “This scholarship is funded to provide two students each semester to finish their education at MSU. I am hopeful that former players and members of the MSU Football Players Association and others will grasp the opportunity provided to them and potentially grow the scholarship to fund more than just two student-athletes per year”.

The sense of family that George had being a part of two Big Ten Championship teams and two National Championship teams can not be totally comprehended. The closeness of his feelings towards his teammates and school administration were one that any family member would cherish from their own. The comments that follow are from George’s teammates, coaches and university administration on the significance of the Webster Scholarship fund and their association with George and his desire to help future Spartan athletes.
